Tuesday's Homework

Math: Lesson 8.1 on Comparing Fractions
Language Arts: There, Their, and They're Worksheet and a double-sided Homophones Worksheet

The behavior today at the dress rehearsal was loathsome (a new word we learned today.) Please speak with your child about keeping their behavior "in check" when there is a change in the schedule. Any little change seems to throw the whole class into a dither.

Works in Progress Performances

Hello!

The students will be performing their African Dance this Wednesday, February 25th in the auditorium. The dance will begin at 6:30 PM. Students should report to room 201 prior to the performance (at 6:15 PM). The students will remain in the classroom until it is their turn to perform. I will need parent volunteers to help the students dress in the classroom. Please email me if you are able to help!

Cheers,
Miss Klein

We will be having a dress rehearsal tomorrow at 1:30 PM.

Afro-Cuban All Stars

Hello!

We will be going on a field trip this Thursday to see the Afro-Cuban All Stars at the Zellerbach. We will be walking and I am anxious about the weather. The plan is to leave BAM at 10:15 AM and then stay on campus for a relaxing lunch following the performance. If the weather is bad, we will walk back immediately following the performance. Please make sure to send a bag lunch with your child on Thursday. If you are interested in chaperoning, please contact me as soon as possible.

Cheers,
Miss Klein

Monday's Homework

Other: Please return signed permission slips tomorrow. Also, the students received their social studies exploration project grades today. Please sign the grade sheet to indicate that you have discussed the grade with your child. Please do not hesitate to call if you have any questions....

Vocabulary - Homophones

This week we will be reviewing homophones since I continue to see confusion between words such as their, they're, and there in the students' writing. A homophone is a word that sounds like another word (same pronunciation), but has a different meaning, spelling, and/or word origin. Below is a list of the words we will be covering this week. The words highlighted in red are the words the students will be tested on this Friday.

very / vary
weather / whether
board / bored
chews / choose
they're / there / their
hire / higher
berry / bury
cellar / seller
flour / flower
desert / dessert
metal / medal
aloud / allowed
merry / marry
