Upcoming Events:

• Our play is this Wednesday at 10:15. It is important that your child is at school on Tuesday and Wednesday for the play rehearsal and performance.
• Book reports are due on Friday, December 18th, 2009.
• If you would like to bring a treat to share on Friday, please bring enough for 25 students. (We will not be having a formal holiday party due to the upcoming Marin Headlands field trip and the costs associated with the trip. We don't want to ask for anything more during this difficult financial time for many families.)

Another question...

In class, we discovered that adding an "ic" to a word usually changes it from a noun to an adjective. For example, "graph" to "graphic." But what about the word "phonics"? Does adding the "s" negate the addition of the "ic"?

* One way that student can study for the vocabulary tests, is working with a friend or family member to create sentences at home, that they thencan re-create on the vocabulary check-in. They should also practice spelling the words orally.

I am sorry I have fallen so far behind on my blogging... I have had a tough few weeks and I am finally getting back into the swing of things.

A few reminders:

• Poetry projects are due on Friday, December 4th.
  
• Friday, December 4th will be an all school Community Meeting and several students will be receiving awards.
  
• This Saturday, we will be having a fundraiser at Books Inc. on 4th Street in Berkeley between 6:00 and 9:00 PM. Please try to stop by; 20% of the profits from that evening will be donated to out field trip.
  
• Social studies explorer projects are due on Monday, December 14th. The students will be given class time to complete their work next week. In addition, I will be checking-in on the students' progress on December 7th.
• At 10:15 AM on December 16th, we will performing an adaptation of Molly Bannaky directed by Cantey Meigs. Please try to make it!!!
• The next book report will be due on December 18th. I will be sending home a planning sheet this Friday.
