Hello!

Social Studies: Identify the major attributes of the four epochs we have been studying (worksheet.) We summarized a chapter of the social studies text America Will Be together as a class. The students then recorded the interactive summary in their yellow social studies notebooks. Students should use the summary to complete the worksheet.

Language Arts: Context clues worksheet. *For extra credit (a BAM buck), students may choose to identify the type of context clue (synonym, example, cause & effect, antonym, appositive, definitional, comma string, etc...) used in each sentence.

Learning how to use context clues in order to clarify unknown and/or difficult vocabulary is an essential skill students must master as they begin to read increasingly more difficult levels of text.

Reminder: Tomorrow is picture day!

No Homework!

Howdy,

We weren't able to get through our math lesson today. I will not send home work that we have not first reviewed in the classroom, thus there is not any homework this evening. Enjoy the rare evening off.

Friday Homework

Hello!

A few students took home their memoir writing over the weekend. Please do not help them with their writing. This writing piece will serve as the pre-assessment I will use to group students in writing groups for Writers' Workshop. I do not like to send work over the weekend, but the students chose to finish their work on their own time.

Have a great weekend!

Miss Klein

Reading Log

Please remember to keep track of your nightly reading on your Reading Log. Each week, you will receive a new pink Reading Log in your green Reading Folder.

Please try to come up with a question regarding your reading and any words or ideas you need help clarifying. You should also write a two sentence summary of your reading.

I will collect the green Reading Folders on Friday mornings. Students and parents should sign the logs as a verification that reading was done nightly.

Thank you,
Miss Klein
